Finding Me

She was tired; so very bone weary.  The tiny, white haired, mother of three, grandmother of seven and dedicated wife to a man struggling with his health was tired of fighting the urgent call to finally birth her true, authentic self in all her messy glory.  She had lived her entire life being of service to her family and pushing aside her feelings of frustration and incompleteness.

Her time was ripe.  She was 62.  Her life had been an adventure so far. Her personality was such that things happened around her.  Her life was so full that she disappointed people on a regular basis by overcommitting constantly.  She was a good enough person to recognize this as a fault as opposed to a plus in her life.  Being so busy that you double book and cancel constantly is a selfish way to live.

she had decided many times to change her lifestyle but she was plagued by bad habits that she constantly revisited just to sabotage herself.

Drinking messed with her morale and her health.  She quit drinking alcohol for months at a time only to find a stupid reason to drink just as she approached her 140th day of sobriety to avoid any sort of success... gawd forbid

Pot became her vice of choice and she smoked a daily doobie for years.  She was in the midst of reevaluating her pot habit as she approached her 63rd birthday.

Coffee was a daily necessity even though she preferred the taste of tea.  She tortured herself daily with a beverage she tolerated rather than drinking a pungent blend of leaves that made her sigh with contentment whenever she indulged.

Candy, cakes and sweets were shoved into her mouth often at times when her weight was just approaching it's target number.  Without fail as soon as the scale rewarded her for her diet efforts, automatically junk food would appear in the house.  Self sabotage..

Exercise was something she needed to do for her blood pressure and to promote, not only longevity, but quality of life in her next twenty years.  She loved jumping on her rebounder and sometimes was consistent.  As soon as the results started to show, off she would slink to the couch to ensure she was a failure in that regard.

Home cooked meals were often just not the reality in her home as she often felt lazy, lethargic and useless.  Nothing delighted her or her husband more than a delicious home cooked meal prepared with music playing gently in the background accompanied by a nice glass of something.

Meditation was something MADE for her ADD condition so, naturally she avoided doing it.

She had a penchant for starting beautiful crafts and not completing them.  She played the keyboard by ear but never took the time to learn to read music.

She adored the river and the path that ran alongside of it.  It was a two minute walk from her house to this beautiful cascading water spectacle.  She stayed home.

Her grandkids loved her and she worshipped them.  They all lived close by.  She often did not make the effort to see them.  Was she afraid of the joy?

She adored her husband.  He was older, sicker and preferred to spend his evenings and weekends quiet and at home.  She was restless to venture out into the community but was afraid for some reason.

She knew without a doubt that her alter-ego was Little Raven Healer.  She was determined to morph into her true persona by her 63rd birthday on October 8 2019.  She wasn't sure how but she was going to do it but from this day forward she would be actively standing aside and allowing her presence to appear at will.
